Janelle James will host the 32nd annual Critics Choice Awards on Jan. 3, with the ceremony airing live at 4 p.m. PT on E! and USA Network. Nominations for the film and television awards will be released Dec. 4 at 9 a.m. PT across E! and USA Network linear channels, the Critics Choice website, E! Online and social platforms for CCA and E!

James plays Ava Coleman on "Abbott Elementary," a role that brought her five straight Emmy nominations. She was named one of Variety's 10 Comics to Watch in 2020. Her first hour-long stand-up special arrives on Netflix Nov. 10. She is developing the Hulu comedy "Rock City," wrote and acted on Showtime's "Black Monday" and Apple TV's "Central Park," and starred in "One of Them Days."

Joey Berlin, CEO of the Critics Choice Association, said the awards have been "the place where the conversation about the year's best work really takes off" for more than 30 years, adding that James is "one of the very best in the business."

Bob Bain Productions and Berlin Entertainment serve as executive producers, with Dan Black at Greenberg Traurig representing the show. Chelsea Handler hosted the earlier ceremony this year, where Timothée Chalamet, Jacob Elordi and Jessie Buckley were among the winners.

The Critics Choice Awards recognize achievements across film and television.
