The Town of Cutler Bay will host its 12th annual Senior Games on Nov. 10, offering a single-day athletic competition for adults aged 50 and older. The event serves as a local qualifier for the Florida Senior Games and operates as an extension of the town's Active Adults program. Organizers have structured the day as an Olympic style competition, with participants competing across multiple disciplines simultaneously.

The conflict lies in the scale of the event relative to the town's resources. The games feature 11 distinct categories, ranging from traditional lawn sports to court-based games. These include basketball shooting, billiards, bowling, corn hole, horseshoes, pickleball, shuffleboard, swimming, table tennis, tennis, and track and field. This variety requires simultaneous management of different venues and equipment throughout the day.

Events coordinator Paola Perez noted that participation is free, removing the financial barrier for local residents. She emphasized that the town welcomes competitors from other municipalities. "Our Senior Games are free to participate in and residents of other municipalities are welcomed and encouraged to participate," Perez said. She added that the goal is for attendees to "show off your skills" while creating memories.

Registration is handled exclusively through email. Interested individuals must send a message to Paola Perez at pperez@cutlerbay-fl.gov. For those seeking to sell goods or sponsor the event, Maria Herrera-Mendoza manages vendor opportunities. She can be reached at mherrera-mendoza@cutlerbay-fl.gov or by phone at 786-459-7389. The town has hosted this event for 11 prior years, establishing a consistent annual schedule for the community.

The games fit into a larger network of local publications and community events managed by Miami Community Newspapers. The outlet covers areas from Aventura to Homestead, including Cutler Bay. The Senior Games provide a specific focal point for the town's active aging initiatives, allowing residents to engage in physical activity within a competitive framework. The event runs all day on Nov. 10, concluding a year of preparation for the regional Florida Senior Games.
