Venezuelan street food and baseball converge at loanDepot park this weekend as the Marlins host the Choque de Gigantes series. The two-game event pits the Navegantes del Magallanes against the Tiburones de La Guaira on Saturday and Sunday. The lineup includes specific food vendors, charitable initiatives, and discounted ticket options for fans attending the games.
The Navegantes del Magallanes and Tiburones de La Guaira take the field on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. This marks the second time the Marlins have introduced this event to their home park, having first held it in 2024. The series features two of the most storied clubs in the Liga Venezolana de Béisbol Profesional.
Food vendors are set up on the Promenade Level to serve traditional dishes. At Section 1, Doggi’s Arepa Bar offers tequeños and signature arepas named La Pelúa, La Catira, La Sifrina, and La Tripleta. The menu also includes a cheeseburger and crispy fries. At Section 18, La Arepera by P.A.N. sells hot dogs, arepas, tequeños, and empanadas.
Section 19 hosts BeisBowl, which serves a Pabellón Bowl containing shredded beef, rice, beans, and plantains. Beverage options include specialty cocktails inspired by the competing teams. El Tiburón, representing the Guaira team, mixes vodka, blue curaçao, pineapple, and lime. La Nave, for the Magallanes, combines aged rum, cola, passion fruit, and lime.
Passion fruit guarapitas are available at Bud Bar, Brew Hall, and Bullpen Bar & Grill. Polar beer is sold throughout the park. Fans can buy a commemorative Choque de Gigantes souvenir cup, with a portion of proceeds going to Global Empowerment Mission and the We Love Venezuela Foundation.
The charitable effort extends beyond the souvenir cups. The Marlins, the two Venezuelan clubs, and the LVBP are supporting ongoing relief efforts in Venezuela. A portion of ticket proceeds and the 50/50 Raffle will benefit the initiative. Fans can also contribute through a supply drive at the park and an auction featuring signed jerseys and bats.
Saturday attendees can purchase $5 tickets for the evening game. A Happy Hour runs at the Budweiser Bar in center field from 5:30 p.m. until first pitch at 7 p.m., offering $5 12-ounce packaged Polar beer. Students are eligible for the $5 ticket rate.
Sunday offers a $44 Family Pack for the 1 p.m. game. The bundle includes four tickets, four hot dogs, four non-alcoholic drinks, and four popcorns. A portion of the proceeds from this package also supports the earthquake relief efforts. Tickets and more information are available at Marlins.com/Choque.
