The Greater Hillsborough County Fair Association named five recipients for its 25th annual Harvest Awards on October 20. The ceremony took place at the Hillsborough County Fair Exhibition Building in Dover, marking a milestone in the program that honors contributions to local agriculture.

Astin Farms received the Farm Family award. John Davidson was named the recipient for Lifetime Achievement. Hilda Castillo earned the title of Woman in Agriculture. The Plant City Commons Community Garden was recognized for Outstanding Public and Community Service. Everglades Farm Equipment received the Outstanding Agribusiness award.

These awards have been presented for 25 years to individuals, families, businesses, and organizations that strengthen the agricultural sector in Hillsborough County. The fair states that the program aims to preserve the county's agricultural heritage while supporting its growth. The awards are part of the fair's wider mission to provide education, entertainment, and events for families while highlighting the region's farming history.

The 25th anniversary of the awards aligns with the fair's 2026 theme, 'Celebrate America.' The association says this theme offers a chance to honor the traditions, people, and communities that define the country, including the farmers, ranchers, and agricultural businesses in Hillsborough County. The awards serve to bring together agricultural leaders, community partners, and families to acknowledge the work that keeps farming a key part of the local economy.

The 2026 Hillsborough County Fair will run from Thursday, November 5, through Sunday, November 15. The event will be held at the Hillsborough County Fairgrounds in Dover. The fair serves the community through family-friendly events, education, and opportunities that showcase local youth and agriculture.
