President Donald Trump held a joint rally with Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds in Daytona Beach on Friday night. The event marked the second time this week that Trump campaigned for Donalds in an effort to keep the Florida governor's mansion in Republican hands.

The president first traveled to Fort Myers last week for a similar stop. During that appearance, he told supporters that Donalds would make a great governor for the state.

Polls have shown Donalds leading his opponent, Democrat David Jolly, for much of the cycle. However, the race has narrowed in the final weeks. This shift contrasts with the 2022 election, where incumbent Ron DeSantis defeated Charlie Crist by a margin of 19 points.

The increased presidential involvement suggests growing concern among Republicans about Jolly's recent polling numbers. The party aims to secure another four-year term in the state's top executive office.

On the same day, Jolly campaigned in Tampa Bay. He focused his efforts on undecided voters in an attempt to become the first Democrat to win the governorship since 1994. Both candidates continued their final push with Election Day arriving in four days.

The candidates are now in the final stretch of their campaigns. Donalds is relying on high-profile endorsements to solidify his base, while Jolly seeks to convert swing voters in key regions of Central Florida.
