David Langston, 41, was killed in a collision on US-70 in Goldsboro after a driver traveling in the wrong lane struck his motorcycle. Goldsboro police reported the accident occurred in the westbound lanes near North William Street.
The driver involved was identified as Edward Stewart, 83, a Goldsboro resident. He has been charged with misdemeanor death by a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and driving the wrong way on a dual-lane highway. Stewart is scheduled to appear in court in December.
Peggy Craft, Langston’s mother, described her son as a dedicated mechanic who lived for his 10-year-old son, Dylan. Craft said Langston was generous and always willing to help others. "He would give the shirt off his back," she said. She noted that Langston prioritized spending every available moment with Dylan.
Langston’s death leaves his son to rely on a network of family and friends. Craft stated that Dylan has a strong support system in place to help him adjust to the loss.
A fundraising page on GoFundMe has been created to assist with expenses for Langston’s son. The funds are intended to support Dylan in the months following his father’s death.
