Miami Beach will hold a public ceremony on Monday, November 9, to mark the anniversary of Kristallnacht. The event runs from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach. The venue is located at 1933 Meridian Avenue in the 33139 zip code.
The Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, a committee of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, is organizing the commemoration. The afternoon segment begins at 4:30 p.m. with an educational program for high school students. Holocaust survivors will participate in this student-facing session.
The evening community remembrance begins at 6:30 p.m. A 105-year-old Holocaust survivor is scheduled to speak during the gathering. Local elected officials and representatives from the Consulate General of Israel in Miami will also attend the ceremony.
Kristallnacht occurred on November 9 and 10, 1938. Widespread violence against Jewish communities erupted throughout Nazi-occupied Germany and its territories. Jewish homes, businesses, and synagogues were attacked and destroyed. This escalation in persecution led to the Holocaust.
The Anti-Defamation League reported that 2025 was the deadliest year for antisemitic attacks in over 30 years. The memorial presents this annual event to address that rise in violence. Partners include the Florida Department of Education and the City of Miami Beach.
Media access requires registration by noon on November 9. Reporters must present credentials at the door due to security protocols. John P. David handles press inquiries for the event.
